Priorities for Ward 2
A practical, community-centred platform built on years of grassroots experience.
Asma’s priorities are grounded in her decade of experience serving communities in the Waterloo Region. As a settlement worker, program leader, and the founder of CAWA, she has seen firsthand what residents need.
Community Building & Engagement
Strong communities start with strong connections. Asma will champion initiatives that bring neighbours together — from community events and public forums to enhanced neighbourhood association support.
Key actions: Expand community event programming, increase resident participation in municipal planning, and support grassroots organizations serving Ward 2.
Supporting Diversity & Inclusion
Waterloo is home to people from all over the world, and our municipal government should reflect that diversity. Asma will work to ensure culturally responsive city services and amplify underrepresented voices.
Key actions: Advocate for multilingual city resources, support newcomer settlement pathways, and strengthen partnerships with cultural organizations.
Accessible Resources for All
Every resident of Ward 2 deserves equal access to city services. Asma will push for improved transit connectivity, barrier-free access to municipal facilities, and streamlined pathways to city programs.
Key actions: Improve transit routes serving Ward 2, expand digital access to city services, and remove barriers for residents with disabilities.
Investing in Families & Youth
Families and young people are the future of our ward. Asma will advocate for youth-focused programming, safe parks and recreation facilities, and family-friendly infrastructure.
Key actions: Increase youth program funding, improve park infrastructure, and support affordable childcare initiatives.
